Old Benedict

Andy Peat (Lead singer/Piano/Guitar) and Ally Brown (Bass Guitar) began writing together in 2004-2005 and although Ally wasn't that interested in playing in a band because of his passion for dance music, he decided to give it a go anyway. Andy then came up with the name "Old Benedict" The name came from Andy's acoustic Piano, which was called benedict and it was old! So in April 2006 Andy and Ally asked Stuart Hunter (Rhythm guitar) if he fancied coming along and trying out some acoustic stuff. Everything went well and Stuart recommended drummer Ross Walsh. Ross had loads of other commitments, for example, he was already in another band and still did the pipe band drumming etc so he said he was only up to help us out. This soon changed once he realised the potential of the band and has now decided to become a permanent fixture in the band. Not long after, Andy got in touch with Duncan "Bosch" Ballentyne (Lead guitar) who he'd worked and lived with in Edinburgh & Aberdeen a few years before. Now the band had everything it needed and has gone from strength to strength, even adding new young member Chris McCuaig on Saxophone!
